Barden Ridge is a southern Sydney suburb, situated approximately 31 kilometres from the Sydney CBD. Originally, the area was part of Lucas Height. However, in 1996 the residential area of Lucas Heights was renamed Barden Ridge after Alfred Barden separated the residential area from the industrial and commercial areas.
The population of Barden Ridge is approximately 4,041, the median age of which is 35 years. The residents are mostly of Australian, English, Irish, Scottish and Italian descent. The most common occupations are professionals, clerical staff, managers, technicians, and retail workers.
The closest train station is the Sutherland station, which is on the Illawarra line of the Sydney Trains network. Bus services are provided by Transdev, and connect Barden Ridge with other south western suburbs.
Barden Ridge is also easily accessible by car, with Alfords Point Road and Bangor Bypass being the main thoroughfares.
